Abiomed, a leading medical device company, is seeking a highly motivated and individual with a strong work ethic to join our Engineering team in Aachen, Germany

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Operations department, you will have the unique opportunity to supply to the development and production of life-saving medical devices. You will work closely with our experienced engineers to improve and develop processes within the medical device industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process development and improvement for manufacturing processes of existing and future products

• Establish structures for process performance assessment and data driven decision making

• Drive & own process optimization and prepare internal and external reports without direct supervision

• Prepare and present internal presentations to the Abiomed management

• Complete tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision

• Leading project teams while managing and mentoring the timely execution of tasks for self and others

Qualifications

Education:

• MS (Dipl. Ing.) in mechanical engineering or directly related scientific field

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• 5 years of related work experience desired

• Must have expertise with Engineering CAD software such as SolidWorks

• Initial experience with applicable manufacturing processes and process improvement strategies

• Familiarity with DOE, inspection methods, process characterization/optimization, and input/output relationships

• Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently (oral and written)

• Being comfortable driving tasks in a multi-functional organization requiring collaboration with R&D, Quality, MFG, and facilities

Preferred:

• Medical device/regulated work environment experience preferred

• Familiar with project management terms and concepts

• Experience with injection molding and extrusion preferred

• Knowledge in crafting equipment and fixtures for cleanroom environment

Other:

• Proficient in German and English

• Comfort with working in a cleanroom environment

• Must be proficient Microsoft Office Suite

• May require up to 10% travel - US & EU
