Amazon Engineering Project Manager, Global Engineering Services in Agognate, Italy

Description

Amazon is seeking a talented and business oriented EU Project Engineer to coordinate the planning and execution of logistic process solutions for the continued expansion of our EU Customer Fulfillment network.

Ideal candidates will have first Project Management experience combined with an established technical problem solving ability. The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfillment Center while focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance, sortation, robotics) and storage solutions. From the definition of business requirements up to the final building handover to Operations and Maintenance teams, the Project Engineer will be responsible for delivering small and medium size state-of-the-art material handling systems and technology innovations.

Successful candidates will cooperate with internal teams and external contractors in order to effectively launch expansions\conversions of existing Fulfillment Centers after Commissioning & Qualification phase. The candidate will own Safety and make interventions accordingly. Sustainability and Quality are foundational deliverables that candidate is expected to lead and contribute.

Key job responsibilities

• End-to-end ownership for small- medium scale engineering projects (scheduling, resource planning, installation, commissioning and qualification, launch and ramp-up support)

• Lead technical design reviews (2D&3D) and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards.

• Support and track the relevant CAPEX requests to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value

• Coordinate critical path items, dive deep on technical details and provide innovative solutions to resolve issues

• Continuous project status tracking and communication, targeted and timely elevation of potential risks and issues across multiple teams and with project stakeholders

• Prepare and conduct weekly standing meetings with internal and external vendors/contractors to plan and track deliverables

• Purchase and Change order and management supported by dedicated Procurement and Change management departments

• Ensure quality of execution and installation, compliance to the design via commissioning and qualification activities.

• Collaborate closely with various internal teams such as World Wide Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability

• Ensure fully compliance with Safety and Sustainability building requirements

A day in the life

You will work on the delivery retrofits and expansions on Amazon Fulfillment Centers as part of a high-performing team. During the early project phases of project design and bidding, you will predominantly work in an Amazon office or from your home. During the project execution, you will typically spend your time at the project site, with peaks throughout the year, extending to most week days with full ownership during the last phases of project installation, Commissioning & Qualification and post Launch ramp up. You will enjoy the rewarding experience to upgrade an existing Amazon Fulfillment Center. After initial months onboarding, you will be progressively given important and extending responsibilities, within the project and aside it, by taking the lead on other business horizontal tasks. You will be constantly helped by the team, will respect and leverage diverse point of views and focus on inclusion of new members.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related discipline

• Experience interacting with cross-functional teams & subject-matter experts

• First Project/Program Management experience in comparable industrial environments

• Experience using MS Excel, CAD\ BIM related softwares, MS Project

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both native and English languages

• Flexibility to travel up to 50% of your time across projects in Europe

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge about automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions

• Project execution experience in a construction environment (newbuild) or operational environment (buildout)

• Understanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenance processes including relevant software tools

• French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
