Job Summary As a DVS agent for the MN Department of Public Safety, Driver and Vehicle Services, providing customer service to all persons who seek information on all classes of Motor Vehicle Registration, a MN identification card or driver's license, new or renewal; examine and verify all original documents presented to determine authenticity; assist state examiners as needed while they administer written and skills tests; and process applications, vision testing, and signature/picture accurately into the State system. Responsible for collecting appropriate fees, balancing the amount received with the total from the State system, and accurately receipting the State and County portion of the fees. Issues DNR hunting and fishing licenses, passes, and stickers through the Electronic License System (ELS). Supervision Received Employees working in this job class work under general supervision and usually receive some instruction with respect to details of most assignments, but are free to develop their own work sequences within established procedures, methods, and policies. They are often physically removed from their supervisor and are only subject to periodic supervisory checks. Incumbent reports to the License Center Supervisor and receives work direction from the Chief Financial Officer. Supervision Exercised No formal supervisory authority. Essential Functions This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other essential and nonessential functions as assigned or apparent to meet the ongoing needs of the department and organization. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position. 1. Assists the public by receiving, answering and referring questions at the public counter or over the phone. Determines what type of license or permit is needed by the applicant. Assists the public by completing various licenses related forms, applications and deliver valid license receipts. Reviews license applications for accuracy and completion. Issues plates and/or complete title applications for renewals on all vehicles including recreational and out of state vehicles. Handles and determines eligibility for specific circumstances that involve discounted pricing per state laws, for veterans, disability, military leave and youth. Issues 10% winter weight increases on trucks. Photographs applicants and conduct eye examinations when required for renewing and issuing driver's licenses, permits, or identification cards. 2. Record and Cash Management. Receives cash, and checks for services and assuring that all information is correct. Assists in preparing deposits on daily basis and reconciles license transactions to coincide with the daily deposits and reports. This is done when the Sr. License Technician is absent. Assists in complying and completing various reporting requirements as defined by the State of Minnesota and if instructed by the County Auditor. Assists Sr. License Technician in preparing reports required by the State of Minnesota. 3. Maintains License Inventory. Maintains inventories of License materials, as related to supplies and manuals for Driver's Licenses, DNR regulations and Game and Fish regulations. Assists with correspondences to the State of Minnesota and individuals regarding licensing concerns and problems. Compiles and completes all reporting requirements as defined by the State of MN. 4. Attends seminars and workshops related to licensing requirements with the State of MN and the Auditor s office. 5. Performs additional duties in absence of the Sr. License Technician. 6. Assists with election-related duties when requested by supervisor. 7. Attends training and meetings as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned or apparent.
