Ohio based Akron Children's Hospital seeks a Medical Director of Cytogenetics to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established group of nine Pathologists and four PhD laboratory directors at one of the nation's best free-standing children's hospitals. The successful candidate will be a PhD Cytogeneticist or MD/DO Pathologist with cytogenetics experience and ABMGG certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. The candidate will be responsible for cytogenetics interpretation and reporting of constitutional and cancer cases processed with G-banding, FISH, and microarray. Akron Children's has two high-complexity laboratories in the region, offering everything from routine tests to those requiring sophisticated instruments and techniques that allow us to take care of our highly complex patients. There is ample opportunity to engage in clinically oriented research. Our laboratories for cytogenetics, microbiology, and electron microscopy, as well as our fetal and other specialty pediatric pathology services, are the only ones of their kind among area hospitals and serve as regional referral centers. The department has a Pediatric Pathology fellowship program which provides exceptional training. Academic appointment at Northeast Ohio Medical University is available and commensurate with experience. This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
