Summary You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the MAINTENANCE CENTER of MAINTENANCE CENTER ALBANY. Responsibilities You will repair/overhaul a variety of heavy mobile equipment (e.g., bulldozers, road graders, power shovels, mobile cranes, heavy combat equipment, etc.) You will trace and locate defects and cause of mechanical problems to determine type and extent of necessary repairs. You will demonstrate proper work methods and procedures. You will assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed and that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn as required. You will make inspections during the removal, disassembly, repair, overhaul, installation and alignment of Heavy Mobile Equipment and associated components. You will ensure all components and vehicles/equipment meet all operational parameters, all specified tolerances, and safety factors. You will review documentation before doing work and ensure that all work performed is in accordance with technical instructions, data, and documentation. The employee is required to maintain certification as a Certified Technician in order to inspect his/her own workmanship and the quality of the product produced. The employee, evaluated by the Supervisor on a periodic basis to determine if the employees skills and knowledge arc sufficient to be certified.
