Position Summary
The incumbent will be primarily responsible for all aspects of NYSTRS security. Specific skillset is Firewall administration of both perimeter and internal firewalls and conduct Web Application testing. Additional responsibilities include advanced support of multifactor authentication, DLP, IPS, Antivirus, Office 365, Cloud email security, Security scanning, monitoring and remediation. SIEM administration, applying upgrades, script writing, bug fix workarounds, researching, ensuring continued support, verifying recoverability, and ensuring interoperability with current and future software implementations and continued services. Also, responding to ServiceNow requests for troubleshooting access issues, onboarding new users, MFA setup and maintaining internal documentation of NYSTRS procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Either 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (SG-23); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge in network security concepts, both in broad terms and specific to NYSTRS- chosen toolsets.
SANS GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT)
Knowledge in Firewall Administration.
Knowledge in URL Filtering Administration.
Knowledge in Antivirus Administration.
Knowledge in Office 365 Security Administration.
Knowledge in Cloud based email security.
Knowledge in SIEM, DLP, and IPS concepts.
Knowledge in Multi Factor Authentication.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Work Modality
This position is subject to a hybrid work schedule.
Occasional need to lift and move network devices from racks - up to 30lbs.
Job Duties
The duties of the Information Technology Specialist 3 include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Perform research and analysis on critical security threats and provide recommendations.
Administer and maintain NYSTRS PeopleSoft security.
Administer and maintain NYSTRS Antivirus systems.
Administer and maintain NYSTRS DLP, IPS systems.
Administer and maintain NYSTRS Firewall and URL Filtering system.
Administer and maintain NYSTRS Phishing awareness training campaigns.
Administer and maintain Multi Factor Authentication.
Administer and maintain VMWare NSX-T security ruleset.
Responds to ServiceNow requests and incidents.
Responds to ServiceNow requests for MFA usage issues and set up new users for access to various remote access methods.
Other duties and responsibilities:
Additional responsibilities would be a supporting role for PeopleSoft security. Working with teams and users to develop roles, permission lists, and ensuring the concept of least privilege. In addition to the technical responsibility, they would also be responsible for training other team members on all aspects of PeopleSoft security and maintaining procedures.
The role would also take on a more technical position for Web application testing - developing policy, enforcement and maintaining procedures.
The role would also take on a more technical position for Firewall administration - developing policy, upgrades, and maintaining procedures on both the Fortinet and VMware NSX environments.

This position is a Grade 23

$96,294 - $125,641
