Robert Half Paralegals and Legal Assistants in Albany, New York

Description We are in the process of recruiting a Paralegal and Legal Assistant to join our team based in Albany, New York. This position falls within the legal industry and offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. The selected individual will primarily be tasked with evaluating external appeal applications, investigating complaints against regulated insurance companies, and maintaining comprehensive electronic case files.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate external appeal applications based on the stipulations of Insurance Law Article 49, ensuring all necessary information has been provided and all queries have been addressed.

• Conduct thorough investigations of complaints lodged against regulated insurance companies, utilizing provisions in the approved policy and mandates in the Insurance Law.

• Maintain and update electronic case files, ensuring they are complete and organized.

• Act as a communication liaison for administrative processes with consumers and representatives of financial entities, both in written and verbal form.

• Screen requests for external appeals in compliance with the Federal No Surprise Act and Insurance Law, Regulation, and established protocols.

• Handle and process consumer and provider complaints, ensuring they are resolved effectively and efficiently.

• Conduct research and handle special projects as required, which may include preparing reports and other documents.

• Follow up on deliverables from internal stakeholders and manage correspondence, calls, emails, and other forms of communication with internal and outside stakeholders. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

• Comprehensive understanding of policies, regulations, and insurance law

• Ability to conduct thorough and accurate research

• Experience in project management and ability to lead special projects

• Familiarity with hiring processes and protocols

• Good knowledge of consumer electronics

• Ability to handle and respond to complaints professionally

• Proficiency in 'About Time' software

• Capable of managing correspondence efficiently and effectively

• Ability to perform ad hoc financial tasks as required

• Experience in working as a liaison between different stakeholders

• Understanding of insurance company operations and provisions

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with various stakeholders

• Ability to deliver on set deliverables within specified timelines.
