What can you expect?
As the Environmental Engineer III, you will utilize their knowledge to participate in collecting, synthesizing, and documenting data relating to environmental compliance tasks. Task focus areas are related, but not limited, to stormwater, wastewater, air quality/emissions, oil storage and/or waste regulations, and assisting in the preparation and/or review of permits, pollution prevention plans, and regulatory-driven reporting. This position also includes providing field support as needed, which may include field site supervision. In addition, the Environmental Engineer III will utilize their knowledge and experience with environmental site investigations and cleanups to support field efforts and document preparation and/or review.
How will you do it?
- Conduct and oversee site inspections, assessments, investigations, and cleanups in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff.
- Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff in data collection, site inspection/investigation, and evaluation of data collected in support of environmental project objectives.
- Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
- Review and document the processes necessary to obtain, develop and/or update environmental permits, plans, reports, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental compliance and restoration project objectives.
- Review and provide documentation of environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirements.
- Prepare charts or graphs from data samples, providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data.
- Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
- Actively participate in creating a positive team environment
- Support project planning and RFP responses

- Manage company resources to ensure proper deliverables
- Supports junior Environmental Engineering staff
- Actively participate in a proactive safety culture
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the practical application of environmental engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various environmental services.
- Knowledge and understanding of RCRA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable laws, le al codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules governing environmental projects and programs.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to use analytical skills alongside scientific rules and methods to solve problems and apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Basic computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
- Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information to others as well as to present information in front of a group.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.

Who is Brice Engineering looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering or other engineering discipline.
- Seven to fifteen years of experience working on environmental projects required.
- Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Engineerings Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass drug and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations certificate preferred.
- Active research on emerging contaminants preferred.
- Familiar with federal and state regulations relating to stormwater, wastewater, air quality/emissions, oil storage, and waste in PE-licensed state(s). Familiarity with federal and state regulations relating to environmental restoration projects in same state(s) a plus.
- Experience in federal government projects highly desired.
- A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- ArcGIS experience preferred.
- Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training with current 8-hour refresher preferred.
- Experience with Health and Safety functions a plus.
- Must meet ADECs definition of a Qualified Professional (four-year degree in environmental science or related field and at least one year experience in contaminated site characterization and cleanup activities) for Alaska positions only.
