Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, with one hour lunch break

LOCATION: 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive

Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range

Example of Duties

Under general supervision, participate as a member of the Public Transportation Department's (PTD) Admin & Finance Section by performing a full range of clerical duties to support department staff. Duties include tracking and coordinating activity sent through the PTD Finance primary email account, tracking and sorting postal and inter-office mail, receiving and reviewing receipts/invoices for appropriate approval information and reconciling procurement card activity, scanning and filing, maintaining file systems, maintaining department's record retention program, and providing general Transit knowledge resources and tools as appropriate to department staff. Attend staff meetings, prepare agendas and minutes for various meetings. Maintain office machines, contact vendors as needed, maintain and organize supply cabinets, printer cartridges, paper and other office and computer supplies. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in office clerical work.

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems or similar discipline and experience in office clerical work.

All applicants must possess and/or obtain:

  • Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM.

  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.

Preferences:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, record keeping, and file maintenance,

Military Service Interview Preference:

Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.

Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
