Gift of Life Michigan Manager, Organ Allocation in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Manager, Organ Allocation oversees the daily activity of the allocation staff. This includes, but is not limited to day-to-day operations, special projects, data collection/analysis, mentoring, quality improvement, and case reviews. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive.  Those in bold are essential duties of the position:

  • Provide 24 hour/365-day direct oversight and supervision of the activities of the organ allocation department, ensuring productivity and quality expectations are met.
  • Develop and analyze allocation-related metrics such as organ offer timing, renal anatomy upload timing, occurrence reports, and identifies trends to address deficiencies.
  • Maintain expertise in conducting operational activities in accordance with established policies and procedures for organ allocation and distribution logistics.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with applicable regulations, voluntary standards, and internal policies.
  • Respond in situations of low staffing or special circumstances needing additional resources.
  • Complete monthly OAS staffing schedule.
  • Plan and conduct monthly departmental meetings and individual staff 1-on-1 meetings.
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate departmental educational activities including onboarding.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and onboarding for new team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day work of assigned direct reports, set and communicate clear expectations, and provide coaching/guidance as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing formal and informal performance feedback, conducting performance reviews and/or corrective action discussions as necessary.
  • Support staff in setting performance goals and in furthering their professional development.
  • Support and contribute to the achievement of organizational and department goals.
  • Support the bi-directional communication of organizational and department messaging between leadership and staff.
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Manage other tasks required of supervisors such as time and attendance, staff change requests, and reporting.
