NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL Fiscal Database and Reporting Specialist Fiscal Management in Arlington, Texas

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Fiscal Database and Reporting Specialist to support the Departments Fiscal Management Team. This position will assist with developing and maintaining information systems, tools, and reports vital to grant management, as well as invoice processing, billings for reimbursement, budgeting, and fund management, related to transportation projects. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Developing and maintaining information systems to record, monitor, and report data
- Identifying and investigating data discrepancies and/or inconsistencies and working with staff to resolve them
- Developing an understanding of the Transportation Department processes and how information systems are and/or can be used to support these processes
- Identifying potential improvements to information systems and ensuring appropriate and timely implementation of these improvements
- Developing flowcharts and/or visual tools to assist with conceptualizing information system improvements
- Documenting and communicating information system changes
- Assisting staff the development and update of processes to ensure information systems are incorporated appropriately into processes
- Providing training to staff on the use of information systems, including developing training materials
- Responding to inquiries, suggestions, and problems from staff regarding information systems
- Working with department and/or Agency management and staff to develop schedules and timelines, as well as obtain necessary approvals, for information system development, improvements, and review of data
Required Skills
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of SQL and SQL Reporting Builder/SQL Reporting Services
- Working knowledge of Visual Basic
- Ability to process and analyze large amount of detail, particularly in financial reports
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science, computer programming, business administration, information technology, accounting, or a related field of study
- At least one year of job-related experience
Starting Salary Range
$61,835.00 - $74,202.00 annually
