Position Overview:
As the Team Lead, you will oversee and supervise our Corporate Leave of Absence (LOA) team, ensuring all leaves are administered in full compliance with federal and state laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). You'll foster a team environment and a culture of exceptional customer service to ensure program effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Oversee: Manage the LOA team to administer leave programs and policies in accordance with federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.) and company policies.
- Team Coordination: Distribute workload and provide leadership to the LOA team, aligning with HR leadership and legal guidance.
- Operational Support: Administer day-to-day HR transactions related to leaves of absence.
- Process Management: Track leave administration from initial notice through return to work, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Communication: Keep employees and management informed about the leave process and necessary documentation.
- Interactive Process: Facilitate the interactive process between employees and the company as needed.
- Guidance and Support: Provide guidance on complex leave issues and advanced leave guidelines.
- Insurance Management: Manage employee insurance premiums and ensure proper accounting.
- HRIS Management: Report all leave requests in a timely manner.
- Payroll Coordination: Ensure accurate payroll records for employees on leave.
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of employee medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA and Employee Privacy standards.
- Legal Compliance: Stay updated on all applicable leave and accommodation laws.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly manage two or more employees in the Human Resource Department, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining employees, and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 7 years managing leave cases (FMLA, LTD, STD) and 3 years as a Team Lead or Manager.
- Certification: Specialized certification or training in FMLA/leave administration required.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, superb organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office and email; PeopleSoft and absence management experience a plus.
