U.S. Marine Corps SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Arlington, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Safety Division of the Headquarters and Service Battalion in HQTSBATTALION. Responsibilities You will conduct Safety and Occupational Health surveys to evaluate the safety programs for risks or hazards in workplaces, facilities and operations (e.g., industrial, warehouse, maintenance, range, tactical safety). You will analyze new and existing processes, products, or facilities to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards. You will advise leadership on work hazard analysis, environmental issues, system safety regulations, occupational health, and administrative safety matters to improve operations. You will draft reports on mishap investigations resulting in damage to property, equipment, or occupational illness to personnel explaining identifies causes and preventative actions. You will conduct risk assessment to identify and eliminate unsafe operations affecting military readiness programs. You will conduct on-site surveys to identify environmental regulation violations and recommend corrective actions You will develop lesson plans for required safety and occupational health topics and present training to an open audience greater than 100 Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, organizing, and administering Safety, Occupational Health and/or environmental programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
