Amazon Senior Data Engineer, Trust Fundamentals in Arlington, Virginia

Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join Amazon Devices and Services Trust and Privacy (DSTP). As part DSTP's Trust Fundamentals organization, you will be at forefront of protecting customer data at Amazon and providing thought leadership for how to track and manage customer data. You will have the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert on privacy of customer data in the data analytics space, to lead the design and implementation of technical controls, to deliver meaningful trust supporting analytics at Amazon scale, and to work across Amazon and help lead the company in our mission to protect customer data. In addition, you will also participate in bleeding edge initiatives, including working with AI and LLM teams to understand their data models and determine how they safeguard customer data. The outcomes you are responsible for will impact millions of customers and directly contribute to the evolution of data privacy Amazon wide.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop data products, infrastructure and data pipelines leveraging AWS services (such as Redshift, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda, etc.) and internal tools

  • Develop new data models and end to data pipelines in response to product or program requirements

  • Design and implement automated controls for the detection, mitigation, and prevention of privacy and trust risks in analytical environments.

  • Support the identification and delivery of privacy program operational metrics

  • Provide technical and thought leadership for Data Engineering and Business Intelligence

  • Develop new data models and end to data pipelines.

A day in the life

As a Sr Data Engineer with Trust Fundamentals, you will be empowered to identify and address risks that impact the privacy of customer data and the trust that we have earned with our customers. You will provide thought leadership to a team of privacy professionals, paving the way for new mechanisms to ensure customer trust is maintained. You will work with stakeholders across the Devices business, helping to identify pain points and then working to address them through process and technology in the data engineering space.

About the team

Trust Fundamentals is a cross-functional organization within Amazon Devices and Services Trust and Privacy. We are responsible for building technologies, programs, and services that create and grow customer trust, and enable Amazon's business partners and stakeholders to fulfill their trust-related obligations efficiently and effectively. We support product lines that delight customers, including Alexa, Ring, Kindle, and FireTV.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
