Systems Administrator III

Where you’ll work:

You will work onsite in Crystal City, VA initially and then transition to onsite in Manassas, VA within the first year.

An average day:

As Systems Administrator III, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of IT infrastructures, including domestic and international data centers, supporting a large federal enterprise effort. This role involves managing server environments, implementing security best practices, and supporting system performance and reliability. You will work closely with the Systems Administrator Lead and other technical teams to maintain and enhance mission-critical systems. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Manage the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, applications, and patch management processes.

  • Support virtualization environments, including VMware and Hyper-V, to optimize resource utilization.

  • Implement security measures, including access control, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation.

  • Manage storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and ensure effective backup and recovery operations.

  • Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery planning and execution.

  • Develop and update documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.

  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and respond to incidents to ensure timely resolution.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, security, and application teams, to enhance overall infrastructure.

  • Contribute technical expertise to the design and implementation of new systems and infrastructure enhancements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with hands-on experience in both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy in large-scale environments.

  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.

  • Skilled in storage management, including SAN and NAS solutions, and backup/recovery operations.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Experience with automation tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform for system configuration and management.

  • Knowledge of security frameworks, including NIST, FISMA, or DISA STIG compliance.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.

  • Will be subject to a federal background investigation.
