Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3000 plus satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Kuiper Identity and Access Management team is looking to hire a Systems Development engineer. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and will work with leaders in multiple technology areas. Key job responsibilities
Collaborate directly with customers to understand their unique use cases and implement tailored solutions
Develop Identity and Access management solutions to help secure Kuiper's environments.
Implement and improve observability measures across the team's infrastructure
Extend the security provided by the Kuiper Internal Identity Provider to additional services through OIDC/SAML integrations
Integrate and extend Kuiper's Identity solutions with systems like M365 and Atlassian
Manage File Storage solutions
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for all managed systems
Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and updates
Apply DevOps best practices to improve system reliability, scalability, and security
Troubleshoot complex issues across various platforms and services
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure improvements with business needs
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in system administration and DevOps
Document processes, configurations, and system architectures
Mentor junior team members in system administration and DevOps practices
Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 system availability and support
A day in the life
In this role, you will function as a System Development engineer. You will work with teams to help integrate Kuiper's identities into their workflows. You will work with upstream identity source systems to ingrate with the Kuiper Immutable Ledger DB.
About the team
Kuiper Identity and Access Management (KIAM) owns the management and delivery of internal Kuiper identities (user, device, and automation) and policies that govern access to resources at Kuiper. To deliver internal identities for Kuiper, KIAM owns and operates 5 tier-1 services, Kuiper Identity Lifecycle Management (KILM), Kuiper Access Management, Kuiper Public Key Infrastructure for Internal Kuiper Services, Kuiper External Account Federation and Kuiper Internal DNS for device endpoints. Our primary Identity service is KILM which provides automated user provisioning/de-provisioning and access management, Kuiper Identity Provider, Kuiper Identity Immutable Ledger DB (KILDB), and Kuiper Data Access Controls with attribute-based access control.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
