Opportunity

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Supervisor - Materials Management will interface with production, maintenance, engineering, suppliers and corporate buyers to negotiate cost savings, ensure inventory accuracy and levels by monitoring all transactions in and out of the system for timeliness and accuracy.

You will source components and/or materials for production, maintenance/engineering projects and actively participate in cost reduction initiatives, review open orders reports, issue and maintain releases on blanket orders, issue orders, expedite open orders through supplier contact, obtain quotes, purchase order entry, purchase card, quotation requests and correspondence processing and telephone support.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders through SAP purchase orders, the use of procurement cards, or process blanket releases and perform follow-ups on orders based upon open order status reports or SRM/MRO requests.

  • Provide support functions for assigned corporate buyer by performing the following: Organize, prepare, assemble, and send out required bid packages, processing shipping orders, correspondence, and change orders. Review SRM/MRO requests in SAP to create purchase order legal contract terms Review, edit and revise and conditions prior to inclusion into purchase order.Use PC/SAP system to review and verify validity of invoice request for payments against project totals, payment terms and already expended progress payments.

  • Expedite open orders on assigned commodities to meet required schedules. Elevate needs one supplier supervision level above normal contact and then report to responsible Buyer if promises do not meet requirements.

  • Increased responsibilities to include but not limited to working under the direction of the corporate buyers and/or Manager-Materials & distribution to help manage and maintain supplier contracts, program administration and metric reporting.

  • Audit inventory, investigate variances and identify root causes, analyze usage discrepancies utilizing spreadsheets, charts, and root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions if required.

  • Execute the month-end tasks including: Audit and minimize elements requiring processing. Ensure usage entries are processed accurate and up-to-date. Returns and SDMR’s are processed

  • Manage and maintain MRO inventory, ordering system and part numbers.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 (High School) Diploma required plus a Certificate in Inventory Control or other post-secondary education OR a combined 3 years of manufacturing experience with 2 years emphasis on stockroom/inventory control in an MRP environment.

  • Computer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.

  • SAP experience an asset.

  • Materials and distribution related certifications a definite asset.

  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate proven results in areas related to material, production, and inventory control, shipping/receiving and warehousing.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Materials management
