Job Title: Mechanical Helper

Job Description

We are hiring Mechanical Helpers to work onsite at commercial projects throughout Virginia. As a Mechanical Helper, you will assist Mechanics in servicing and repairing cooling towers and heating equipment at colleges, hospitals, and other large commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools such as impacts, drills, sawzalls, grinders, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and channel locks

  • Material handling - loading and unloading materials to and from the job site

  • Assisting the Mechanic with all servicing and repairs

Essential Skills

  • General labor experience

  • Experience in construction

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • HVAC knowledge

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting

  • 1-2 years of experience within the construction industry

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be mechanically inclined

  • Ability to work weekends when required

  • Comfortable working in outdoor conditions and at heights

  • Will certify with OSHA 10 in the first week

Work Environment

You will be working on projects throughout Virginia, typically at universities and hospitals. Most local work is at VCU, with some projects at JMU, Roanoke, VA, and Newport News. The usual work schedule is Monday-Friday, with start times between 6am-7am and end times between 3:30pm-5:30pm. Some weekends are required. All work is outdoors, so you must be comfortable working in outdoor environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
