How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Corporate Counsel, Employment will be a member of Delta’s Employment practice group, focusing on a wide variety of employment litigation and counseling matters in a collaborative, team environment. The Corporate Counsel position will provide regular support and advice to Delta and its subsidiaries on a broad range of employment topics, including reasonable accommodations, performance management, separations, discrimination, harassment, workplace investigations, wage and hour, and talent acquisition. This position is based in Atlanta and will report to the Associate General Counsel responsible for the Employment practice area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day counsel and legal support to Human Resources as well as other departments, business units and subsidiaries.

  • Assist in preparing or overseeing responses to state and federal administrative charges and complaints.

  • Respond to attorney letters and pre-litigation requests.

  • Work closely with outside counsel to efficiently and effectively handle single plaintiff and class action lawsuits in federal and state courts throughout the country.

  • Prepare training materials and provide training to HR and business units on various employment law topics.

  • Advise clients of key legal decisions, statutory changes and other important federal, state and local employment law developments.

  • Work on various projects and assignments, with a broad range of complexity and sensitivity.

  • Provide risk analysis and sound legal advice on, among other things, termination recommendations, reasonable accommodations and investigations.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Undergraduate and J.D. degrees from recognized institutions.

  • Preferable experience: 3 to 6 years of employment law and litigation experience with a reputable law firm.

  • Demonstrate core values of integrity, respect and perseverance.

  • Ability to assess and weigh risks against operational needs to develop reasoned recommendations, including risk mitigation strategies.

  • Ability to work quickly and competently to prioritize, manage, and multi-task in a fast pace working environment and dynamic industry.

  • Ability to deliver sound, clear and practical legal advice, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and internal clients.

  • Possess strong analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
