The Director of IT Applications – People Technology is a crucial leadership role within the global IT team. Reporting to a Vice President of IT, this position oversees key people platforms that govern the employee lifecycle. The right candidate has a builder mindset, thrives working on continuous enterprise transformation, and is looking to create a world-class employee experience.

This leader will serve as a vital partner to the Human Resources leadership team, leading cross-functional IT teams, collaborating with senior leadership to translate business needs into IT strategies, and managing large-scale, global IT projects. Furthermore, the candidate will maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across regions and ensure seamless integration of People Technology solutions within a complex organizational structure and global technology landscape.

This position is expected to follow the Atlanta headquarters’ Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday hybrid in-office schedule with flexibility at manager’s discretion. Travel is expected to occasional and no more than 25% based on project and team needs. Typically travels internationally 1-2 times per year (India).

Key Responsibilities

  • Holistically owns and strategically evolves four pillars of People Technology: 1) the Workday HCM platform and Workday Extend applications; 2) the Cornerstone Saba learning management platform; 3) the Hiring Technology platforms (Fountain, VNDLY, and related Workday Extend apps); and 4) the ADP GlobalView payroll platform.

  • Acts as the liaison between the assigned internal/external client groups(s) (i.e. Business Leaders, HR Leadership, Field HR Representatives, Functional Leaders, Third Party Vendors, etc.) and global IT Team.

  • Guides Managers/Sr. Managers in translating business needs into functional specifications and assist in the technical requirements.

  • Works simultaneously at strategic and technical levels - able to think strategically in leading phases of system analysis and needs while considering the business implications of the application and technology to the current and future business environment.

  • Oversees development, testing, implementation, maintenance, security, reporting and training across People Tech platforms.

  • Develops and enforces IT policies, managing risk assessment and mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with global data governance standards.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Creates, executes, and refines a multi-year strategic plan for the People Tech teams; reviews and refines strategies with an executive, non-technical audience.

  • Monitors, analyzes, recommends adjustments to the staffing model/strategy in response to internal business and external market demands.

  • Leads IT components of multi-year migration to ADP GlobalView for payroll, including building new competencies for payroll platform technical oversight within the IT team.

  • Creates and executes against annual departmental budgets, anticipating and mitigating any deviations from the budget or plan. Utilizes excellent judgement to adapt resources to business needs.

  • Researches new techniques in the development of systems and maintains knowledge of current trends and strategies in technology fields relating to Human Capital Management and platforms critical to the enterprise employee lifecycle.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Implements, evolves, and oversees the People Platforms team’s governance processes: change control, enhancement prioritization and implementation, and vendor release management. Agile/SCRUM or similar work management methodologies aligned with global IT team’s standards.

  • Manages problems of various scopes where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors; exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; recommends/manages changes to existing procedures and practices based on analysis of existing HR applications and other downstream application data.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision over a globally diverse team of Managers/Sr. Managers. Teams include full-time employees, contractors, and service providers based in Atlanta (US), remote (US), and Bengaluru (India).

  • Continually analyzes and recommends adjustments to resourcing mix based on business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • 12+ years of related professional experience, 5+ years leading globally-dispersed technology teams.

  • Has led implementations of large, multinational SaaS HCM and/or Payroll platforms.

  • Experience managing agile low-code/no-code application development (e.g. Workday Extend).

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural, multinational environment.

  • Exceptional English verbal and English written communication skills.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of Workday HCM architecture, data models, and complex integrations.

  • Advanced ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot configuration and data in modern SaaS platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of global HR processes and familiarity with compliance at a global scale.

  • Working knowledge of modern work management and collaboration platforms (MS Teams; SharePoint; Monday.com; or JIRA)

BrandSafway offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance along with a generous 401k plan. The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $230,000 annually. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position.
