Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for managing all aspects of shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments and inbound goods. This role involves preparing documentation, coordinating with carriers, tracking shipments, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping labels.

  • Schedule shipments with carriers and freight companies to meet customer deadlines.

  • Ensure outbound shipments are accurately labeled, packaged, and meet customer or carrier requirements.

  • Track shipments and provide status updates to stakeholders as needed.

  • Oversee and document the receipt of inbound goods, verifying quantities, quality, and condition against purchase orders.

  • Communicate discrepancies, damages, or shortages to suppliers and internal teams.

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of received materials in the warehouse.

  • Update and maintain records in the warehouse management system (WMS) for all shipping and receiving transactions.

  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure accuracy.

  • Monitor inventory levels of shipping materials (e.g., boxes, tape, labels) and reorder as needed.

  • Act as a liaison between the shipping and receiving department, production teams, and customer service to coordinate priorities.

  • Work closely with purchasing to resolve vendor issues and expedite shipments.

  • Provide clear and timely communication to internal and external stakeholders regarding delivery schedules or delays.

  • Ensure shipping and receiving processes comply with company policies, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain organized and accurate records for audits and reporting purposes.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years of shipping and receiving experience.

  • Hilo experience.

  • Ability to use computer programs to create labels and track shipments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Work Environment

The position requires working 100% of the time in the warehouse and on the dock. The work hours are from 8am to 5pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
