As an engineering manager, you will…
Lead - Set goals for the work group, develop organizational capability, and model how we work together:
Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promote a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
Support the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
Plan and Execute - Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, manage execution, and measure results:
Develop, establish and control
Maintain open communication with manager regarding team's progress toward departmental goals.
Plan and manage business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Prepare, communicate and educate client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
Oversee Business Requirements - Provide functional expertise and execute functional responsibilities:
Anticipate, recognize and assess situations quickly and organize resources to take appropriate action.
Develop and implement cost-saving opportunities to meet or exceed company expectations.
Develop operating plans to anticipate future operational needs and technology linkages.
Maintain and improve customer service levels for all business units serviced, ensure proper communication channels are maintained.
Set technical direction and lead efforts that impact engineering's effectiveness and efficiencies in the design and execution process with internal customers and key suppliers.
Support established department goals and objectives, including development and maintenance of programs and procedures for engineering area.
Translate business requirements into plans and objectives for others to act on.
Use knowledge of internal and external resources to develop strategies that provide a competitive advantage and support long-term Starbucks initiatives
Understand and ensure team has expertise in technical processes used in roasting, packaging and soluble process.
Ensure regulatory compliance for equipment plant design (i.e. mechanical and electrical codes met) and facilitates environmental regulatory compliance testing.
Develop Partners & Build Teams - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
Challenge and inspire partners to achieve business results.
Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.
Ensure partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Oversee training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and make effective staffing decisions.
Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.
We’d love to hear from people with:
BS in engineering degree (preferred)
Engineering experience (7+ years)
Manufacturing & project management experience (7+ years)
Experience leading / supervising professional and non-exempt partners
Implementation of quality, customer service and cost optimization programs from a field or home office position (5 years)
Budget planning and management
Experience in consumer products or food company and plant experience, either technical or production

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
