Purpose:

Are you passionate about education and technology? We are looking for an MLTI Ambassador Facilitator to join our team! In this role, you will collaborate with the Learning Through Technology Coordinator, Computer Science Specialist, and Digital Learning Specialist to ensure our professional learning initiatives are aligned and effective throughout the State of Maine. You will support our Distinguished Educators, or “Ambassadors,” who provide impactful technology training to educators statewide. The primary purpose of this position is to work with the Learning Through Technology Coordinator, Computer Science Specialist, and Digital Learning Specialist to ensure alignment across the professional learning provided by the Distinguished Educators (“Ambassadors”), as well as to help to support the team and organize/coordinate their daily activities, and aid in program-wide planning. MLTI is a long-term, large-scale program; one of the primary facets of this program is to support the field in the areas of technology professional learning. In recent years, this program has expanded to employ ten Distinguished Educators (“Ambassadors”) each year who provide professional learning to educators across the state. Due to the growth of the team, the MLTI Ambassador Facilitator services ensure that MLTI professional learning remains coordinated and relevant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of best practices in learning with technology.

· Ability to problem-solve and manage use of time efficiently and effectively by prioritizing deadlines and proactively planning.

· Familiarity with most common learning devices and most popular digital tools used at the 5-9 grade span.

· Experience working in common virtual meeting spaces (Zoom, Teams, etc.).

· Ability to communicate in a highly effective manner in person, virtually, orally, and in writing.

· Ability to create and maintain relationships that allow for managing a large, diverse team of individuals with both common and differing needs.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and to work collaboratively within and across teams.

· Ability to organize and execute complex long-term planning and projects.

· Ability to adapt practices to stay relevant with changing technology.

· Ability to build positive relationships with DOE Employees, Distinguished Educators, educators in the field, and administrators.

· Ability to develop strategic plans with DOE Employees, Distinguished Educators, educators in the field, administrators, schools, etc.

· Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

· Ability to manage workload in a mostly remote environment.

· Ability to lead and manage virtual meetings.

· Ability to procure and create applicable digital resources to provide support and to assist others in the creation of materials of this kind.

· Ability to provide technical assistance to school systems, educators, and other constituents.

· Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral modes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelors Degree in Education or required specialty/substance area and four (4) years professional level experience in required specialty/subject area. A Masters Degree in Education or required specialty/subject area may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
