Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create software code for electronic case report forms in a multi-national and multi-disciplinary team

  • Assist, if needed, in project management for the CONTAGIO consortium, around data management and data sharing (eg. writing reports, deliverables)

  • Work with various data sets for infectious diseases (eg. arboviruses such as Dengue or Zika virus) and create mapping tools for displaying and analyzing spatio-temporal spread

  • Design website, update software routines for the GH-Hub map.

  • Assist in other projects as directed

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • BSc or related bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a relevant field.

  • Proficiency in R and Python.

  • Experience in JavaScript.

  • Experience in front end development.

  • Experience developing interactive web map applications.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Adept at designing intuitive user interfaces for mobile and desktop platforms.

  • Experience with version control systems (Git).

  • Previous experience in full-stack development.

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Python and JavaScript frameworks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define requirements.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.

  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to ensure optimal performance.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.

  • Generate PDFs automatically using packages such as reportlab.

  • Provide instructional training of the developed software for end users of the applications.

  • Write results and create figures for scientific reports and publications.

This is a part-time position (0.40 FTE) at the rank of Professional Research Assistant (PRA) Level 1, at the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH), and Center for Global Health. This position is to support the development of software, websites and mapping in the context of Global Health Research projects at the Center for Global Health, Colorado School of Public Health. More specifically, the candidate will be integrated into a multi-national team working on a tool for building standardized electronic case report forms (eCRF) for various infectious diseases and study designs. The candidate will also provide website design and software for the Global Health Hub (GH-Hub) map. The candidate is expected to be familiar with geo-informatics tools and mapping tools for health-related content. The position is currently funded with 20% FTE for the eCRF generation and 20% for managing and updating the GH-Hub map service. As other support needs arise, there will be opportunity to increase the funding proportional to new work requested.
