Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to develop and implement new and improved inspection techniques across multiple production stages. You will collaborate with various departments to investigate and address complaints, defective products, and quality issues. This role includes hands-on inspection responsibilities and coordinating activities within Quality Assurance to meet customer delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement new and improved inspection techniques on multiple production stages
Collaborate with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to investigate and address complaints, defective products, and quality problems
Perform hands-on inspection layout responsibilities to assist with in-process, receiving, and final inspection
Coordinate and communicate activities within Quality Assurance and other functional departments to meet customer on-time-delivery requirements
Review non-conformance issues, drive root cause analysis, and document corrective actions
Analyze complaint data to identify hidden trends and initiate corresponding corrective actions
Evaluate and approve raw material, in-process production, and finished products by confirming specifications and conducting visual, measurement verifications, and tests
Become an expert in gage selection, procurement, calibration, maintenance, and training of operators/inspectors in gage/equipment use
Participate in the development of Control/Inspection Plans, SOPs, and Work Instructions
Assist in developing the quality management system and support the company’s initiative to obtain ISO9001 certification
Perform audits, both internal and at the supplier level
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities
Essential Skills
BS Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 2+ years of experience, or 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience without a degree
Knowledge of Six Sigma tools
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, statistical trending, and data analysis
Experience with CAPA, Root Cause analysis (8Ds, 5Whys, Fishbone Diagrams), Control Plans, and FMEA
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Electronic/Electrical experience
Knowledge of PPAP, ISO 9001, and audit processes
Relevant certifications in PPAP, ISO 9001, and auditing
Work Environment
This position is based in a very clean manufacturing environment with attached office cubicles. The position is fully onsite, with work involving lifting metal components, panels, frames, breakers, displays, copper materials, wires, and harnesses. The role spans across three plants, with primary work at the largest plant in Streetsboro.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
