Senior Ecologist
POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, and site assessment services to a host of clients. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in the areas of ecological and cultural resources, water quality, air quality, and waste, throughout the country and internationally.
We seek a Senior Ecologist based out of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama in support of our Environmental Division. This opportunity offers a remote work style and can be based out the following States:
Texas
Alabama
Louisiana
Mississippi
Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Roles and responsibilities
The candidate must have the ability to supervise field survey teams, manage waters of the U.S. and threatened/endangered species studies, lead agency coordination and permitting efforts. Client interaction through project support is anticipated. The individual in this position must be detail-oriented, have demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, effective communication, and technical writing skills.
As a Senior Ecologist you will support and help lead project efforts focused on transmission lines, electrical generation, pipelines, major industrial, and renewable energy projects involving environmental surveys, NEPA analyses, and permitting services. The candidate should have an established and successful work history of executing project safety protocols, providing quality of services and work product, timely delivery of services and deliverables.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or other related field
10 years’ prior consulting work with a focus in environmental surveys, documentation, permitting, and client engagement.
Project experience conducting water of the U.S. including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species assessments, and other evaluations related to natural resources.
Experience with Section 404 permitting, including agency correspondence, Nationwide Permits, Regional Permits and/or Individual Permits
Knowledge of Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations
Ability to perform data analysis and develop quality technical reports in support of agency permitting
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Substantial knowledge, hands-on experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations in the central U.S. (e.g., LA, TX, OK, AR). Work may also extend throughout other regions of the U.S.
Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other related field
Certification or licensure in another field of expertise. CWB, PWS, PMP or other professional designation preferred
