We are looking for a Full-Time Research Assistant I to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Austin, TX. This position will be responsible for providing event support (both virtual and in-person events) and administrative support to the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living and the School of Public Health (SPH) in Austin. Daily tasks will include webinar, retreat, and lunch & learn planning, promotion, and coordination, scheduling, arranging travel, processing purchases, and completing other related administrative tasks to support the research activities of the Dell Center and SPH in Austin.

Position Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day administrative support for multiple research projects within the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living at the School of Public Health in Austin. Will support Investigators and project staff with purchasing and reimbursements, preparing travel arrangements, scheduling and coordinating events, webinars, and meetings, and performing other functions as needed to conduct research activities. In addition, will provide communication and event support for the Center.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists with the day-to-day administrative coordination for research projects to include ordering and managing facilities and supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, event-related budgets and timeliness.

  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports to both private foundations and governmental agencies

  • Prepares progress reports and summaries related to events and webinar programming. Prepares draft reports and communications for the departmental program/division leadership.

  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding funded projects.

  • Provides administrative direction and guidance to administrative staff personnel within the department.

  • Coordinates in-person and online events, including social media and marketing and continuing education credits. Manages contact listings for internal and external communications.

  • Manages Center resources.

  • Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Coupa, State of Texas and UT System regulatory requirements

  • Working knowledge of GoTo Webinar and Constant Contact.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal team members and external partners, guest speakers, vendors, or contractors.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

  • Previous experience working in Public Health is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
