Robert Half Network Administrator in Austin, Texas

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Administrator to join our growing IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and a proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures. This role requires a proactive and results-oriented individual with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain a secure and reliable network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN.

  • Manage and monitor network performance, identify and troubleshoot network issues proactively.

  • Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers (specifically Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto).

  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists (ACLs).

  • Maintain network documentation and diagrams.

  • Participate in network upgrades and expansions.

  • Provide technical support to end-users on network-related issues.

  • Stay current on the latest networking technologies and industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth network operations.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

  • Proven experience with Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto network devices.

  • Experience with network security best practices and technologies.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.

  • CCNA, CCNP, or other relevant certifications (preferred).
