CHS, Inc Senior Business Systems Administrator, Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in Austin, Texas

Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity within the Information Technology group. We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Administrator to be responsible for managing and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure data integrity, accuracy, completeness. This role involves collaborating with various IT teams to support configuration management processes to ensure reliable data for IT service management processes.

Responsibilities

CMDB Management

  • Maintain and update the CMDB, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide direction for the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), including Asset, CMDB, Service, Asset & Configuration Management (SACM), Discovery & Service Mapping, Enterprise Architecture (EA).

  • Provides and approves all requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. in support of new or improving functionality of the CMDB.

Data Integration

  • Integrate data from various sources into the CMDB, ensuring seamless data flow and synchronization.

Data Analysis

  • ​​​​​​​ Analyze CMDB data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Design automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data.

Process Ownership

  • ​​​​​​​ Develop and implement processes, procedures, and documentation for CMDB data collection, validation, and maintenance.

Collaboration

  • ​​​​​​​ Work closely with IT teams, including Service Desk, Infrastructure, Enterprise Service Management, and Application teams, to ensure CMDB data is accurate and up-to-date and resolve ongoing Change, Configuration, or Problem issues.

Auditing and Reporting

  • ​​​​​​​ Generate and deliver regular reports on CMDB key performance metrics (KPIs) such as: status, data quality, compliance, and other key metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Compliance

  • ​​​​​​​ Ensure CMDB processes comply with industry standards and best practices, such as ITIL.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the organization on Configuration Management services, concepts, policies and procedures, and assigned work.

Training

  • ​​​​​​​ Provide training and support to IT staff on CMDB processes and tools.​​​​​​​

Continuous Improvement

  • ​​​​​​​ Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices for the CMDB.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day activities, including establishing priorities and work assignments.

  • Track compliance for CMDB policies and procedures.

  • Review health and status of integrations and credential management systems.

  • CI Remediation including duplicates, malform data, and custom attributes.

  • Resolve and/or escalate CMDB compliance issues, including Incident, Change, or Request.

  • Facilitate CMDB audits, including SOX, COBIT, PCI, etc.

  • Communicate and engage business and IT management to encourage CMDB efforts and value proposition.

  • Comply with CHS security standards for credential rotation, alias creation, and security requirements for required annual attestation.

  • Engage with strategic projects to ensure required delivery of required Configuration Management Systems (CMS) functionality within project timeframes.

  • Review and approve changes to CMS infrastructure, where applicable.

  • Configuration Control Board (CCB) Chair, leads and drives change, creates and implements strategy.

  • Engage with Enterprise Service Management to collaborate, provide, or approve requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. in support of new or improving functionality of the Configuration Management Systems (CMS).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology Management, or related field (or equivalent in work experience, education and/or training)

  • 4+ years of experience in Information Technology and/or IT Business Systems managing and maintaining the CMDB within the ServiceNow platform to include proficiency with CSDM, ESM, ITSM, Agile, ITIL, and DevOps

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of CMDB principles and best practices

  • Proficiency in ServiceNow platform

  • Foundational understating of ITSM best practices, related to incident and change

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and with cross- functional team throughout IT

  • Certifications

  • ServiceNow Sys Admin

  • ServiceNow Configuration Management Fundamentals

  • ServiceNow Micro – Certification Blueprint – Configure the CMDBZ

  • ServiceNow Micro – Certification Blueprint – CMDB Health

  • ServiceNow Discovery Fundamentals

  • ITIL Foundation, Practitioner or Expert

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
