YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of TCEQs Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas air quality. This position is a member of the Expedited Team located within the Mechanical/Coatings Section in the Air Permits Division. See details about what we do. Qualifications: KEY QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree, with a major in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. HERES WHAT YOULL BE DOING... Review advanced air permit applications (i.e., projects) in an expedited manner, ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established timeframes. Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries. Prepare and issue public notice authorizations and completes associated tasks. Attend formal and informal public meetings and mediations, responds to public comments as required. Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects. Develop and prepare technical guidance packages and policy memos, streamlining activities, and represents the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc. Serve as a mentor for other permit reviewers on various projects. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field, plus five years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments. OR A masters degree from an accredited college or university in the specified fields plus four years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments. Substitute Qualifications Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination may be substituted for six months of the required experience. One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education. TRAINING The Air Permits Division provides training for new employees which includes our Air Permitting 101 interactive training modules for staff that provides an overview of the division and responsibilities. In addition, a more comprehensive New Source Review (NSR) 101 training is conducted by senior technical staff explaining the technical review process an air permit application.
