MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of (5) five years of related experience.

Incumbent should have knowledge of a specialized field such as electronics, and completion of appropriate trade school or on-the-job training.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbent must have knowledge of electronics installations and repair techniques, have knowledge of the use of electrical and electronic tools and safety precautions, and have the ability to read schematics.

JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Incumbent maintains electronic equipment in the shop and replaces equipment and specialty wiring in the schools.

Incumbent must have current Texas Operators Drivers License in possession at all times while operating AISD vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on complex electronic equipment and systems such as ultrasonic alarms, audio-visual equipment, mini-computers, bells, clocks, and scoreboards.

Replaces wiring systems in clocks, projection systems and television equipment.

Maintains electronic equipment in good repair.

Supervises repair work in the shop and schools.

Dedicated to providing an exceptional customer experience for all AISD stakeholders with intentional and professional practices that promote a culture of respect and focus on achieving equitable outcomes.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

Perform other related duties as assigned; however, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in both indoors and outdoors facilities. Conditions include cold, heat, darkness, dampness, dirt, and dust. Hazards include electrical shocks or burns, cuts, crushed fingers, falls from ladders, small dark enclosures above ceilings and beneath buildings. A large part of work is done from ladders; considerable driving is required in all weather conditions. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. OSHA category for blood borne pathogens for this position is Category III, which involves no exposure to blood or body fluids. Regular attendance is required for this position.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the appropriate supervisor of the department. Incumbent will supervise Maintenance Apprentice. Incumbent provides guidance to Electronics Foreman and principals.
