EXACT STAFF Safety Technician in Bakersfield, California

We are seeking a responsible, skilled Safety Technician, for a well-known Bite Size Potato Company in Arvin, CA. This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative, auditing, training, and facilitation tasks to identify and remediate potential hazards that could cause injury or property damage. The position will identify and inspect equipment, processes, materials, and supplies at our facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the EHandS Team in minimizing the risk of job-related accidents, including monitoring operations to eliminate hazardous activities.

Shift available: (Must be available for overtime as needed)

Sunday-Thursday 10pm-6am

Pay Rate: $16.00-$22.00/HR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that all facilities and personnel meet the minimum requirement of the California Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.

Evaluate and ensure continuous improvement of all safety processes and ensure compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations.

Conducting safety training with employees, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, completing incident investigations, and collaborating with supervisors and managers to ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.

Conduct job hazard analysis of all positions throughout the facility.

Work with EHandS Department and leadership to develop annual safety objectives for operations.

Assist with setting and monitoring EHandS goals and objectives and report on their implementation, progress, and effectiveness.

Facilitate new employee orientation and safety training for all employees.

Coordinate, maintain and update safety manuals, booklets, etc. and conduct PPE assessments.

Train, coordinate and evaluate the work environment through behavior-based observations and track and trend resulting data.

Submit requisitions for safety supplies / PPE and facilitate and support the maintenance of required records.

Provide day-to-day phone and email support to all operations personnel.

Maintain all written records for reporting, analysis, and decision-making, also keep up to date on new regulations and policy changes.

Assist EHS staff in conducting annual refresher training to all employees in health, safety, ergonomics, and other required areas.

Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of environmental, health, safety, and security.

Conduct routine safety inspections and establish measurable standards for the purpose of making continuous improvement recommendations.

Work with different departments, including production, warehouse, QC, and maintenance to ensure workplace safety standards are implemented and enforced.

Assist with employee incident investigation to uncover root cause and track completion of corrective actions.

Maintain records for all work-related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist management in developing effective countermeasures to improve safety objectives.

Address any conditions or practices that may adversely affect environmental, health, and safety.

Compile data, generate and distribute reports to appropriate parties.

Help maintain and manage the EHS programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, stand and perform inspections in various weather conditions and uneven terrains.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at heights.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools.

Ability to wear and work with personal protective equipment as required.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Visual acuity to observe equipment, processes, and hazards.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

2+ years of work experience in nvironmental, health, and safety related role

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.

Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, policies, programs, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and accident/injury investigation procedures

Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Must have a valid current State Drivers License.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Team player with strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

Ability to facilitate meetings and training for all levels of employees.
