Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for optimizing the practices, policies, procedures and programs to operate the electric transmission, sub- transmission and distribution systems in a safe, reliable and efficient manner with the welfare of employees, customers, the public and shareholders in mind. Arrange outage requests and compile switching routines for internal and external departments. Monitor line and equipment loading limitations and protect system integrity. Analyze project diagram related work and coordinate the addition of new equipment to the system. Create electrical zones of protection for field personnel to work within, satisfying all safety tagging procedures. Maintain and apply a working knowledge of the Exelon Management Model for business controls and meet management's expectation for conducting effective business. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Collect and analyze system data to determine the feasibility of switching requests for radial 138kV, 69kV, 34kV and associated substation equipment, which also includes 12kV and 4kV bus and circuit breakers. Ensure the safe, efficient and secure operation of the electric system and manage the impact on system reliability. (30%)
Develop clearance orders for the Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher daily switching workload and ensure the clearance orders are within system loading and system configuration parameters using tools such as SCADA, PI-Historian and DLMP. Ensure clearance orders provide a safe zone of protection for field personnel. (30%)
Review and follow the progression of project diagram work on the transmission, sub transmission and distribution system. (15%)
Interface with Mapping and SCADA Maintenance to monitor the accuracy of new maps and SCADA displays issued for project diagram and other related work. Lead and direct corrections to mapping and SCADA displays to ensure the Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher operate from accurate operating system information. (15%)
Develop and implement emergency switching plans based on last contingencies, system events or overloads, while providing direction to the Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher. (5%)
Provide technical assistance, leadership and direction to Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher. Mentor and assist in monitoring the progress of Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher. (5%)
Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
The Principal Arranger provides functional control for all the needs of the transmission, sub transmission and distribution system including line and equipment loading limitations, switching and operating procedures. The individual must respond to emergency situations due to storms or equipment failure on the system. The individual will provide direction and oversight over various construction departments, contractors, other utilities and municipal agencies in the performance of work related activities involving lines or equipment under the control of the Load Dispatchers. The individual must be able to work independently to avoid unplanned interruptions to customers and verify that all scheduled work does not place our customers or electric system at undue risk.
The consequences of operating errors or improper system operation could cost the company millions of dollars in direct, indirect and intangible costs such as the loss of customer good will, damaged company equipment, damaged customer equipment and damage to the company's public image. The individual must be able to analyze issues, prioritize and provide direction under extreme stress and conflicting demands for attention. The impact on the corporate initiatives for O&M would be severely impacted without the Principal Arranger's ability to properly identify and compile correct switching routines and data for the electric system.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related discipline and 7-10 years' experience in the planning, design, operation or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment on the electrical / gas distribution system OR in lieu of degree, 9-12 years' experience in the planning, design, operation or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment on the electrical / gas distribution system.
Combined 3-5 years experience as Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher (Load Dispatching) and operating/construction/engineering or equivalent background.
Working knowledge is required of the transmission & sub- transmission systems and associated substation equipment to include loading limitations, operating procedures, contingency consequences, protective relaying, emergency operating procedures and protective card requirements.
Independent decision-making and judgment is absolutely necessary to maintain the integrity and security of the system, insuring electrical switching activities are performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
Must be able to work long hours in stressful situations during storms, emergency situations and high work load periods

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related discipline
5 years experience as Sr Dist Sys Dispatcher (Load Dispatching) and equivalent background in operating, construction or engineering.
Working knowledge of the transmission, sub- transmission and distribution system and related substation equipment. Working knowledge of the 4kV, 13 kV & 34kV distribution systems external to substations.

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors:USD $102,400.00/Yr. - USD $153,600.00/Yr.
