The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is conducting an open search for a Research Associate, non-tenure track, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The primary scope of the position is to perform and coordinate experimental research under the direction of Dr. Ryan Pearson, Director of the Bio- and Nano-Technology Center (BNTC). Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the areas of drug delivery, immune engineering, microfluidics, multi-omics biomolecular corona studies and analysis, and /in vitro/and/in vivo/evaluation of delivery systems. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment based at the Baltimore Campus located in Baltimore, Maryland. This position requires scholarly activity, training and mentoring of students, and the ability to engage in the application of drug delivery and immune engineering approaches to research studies. The University of Maryland, Baltimore campus houses schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Law, and Dentistry. Additionally, the School of Pharmacy has a satellite campus at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland. The University of Maryland enjoys an excellent established record of accomplishment of successful collaboration for interprofessional practice and research collaborations with the other professional schools on campus. _Supervisory Controls_ This position is responsible to the Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Reporting responsibility is to the Director of the Bio- and Nano-Technology Center. _Essential Functions_ * Support the research and administrative needs of the BNTC._ * Increase the visibility and collaborative projects between UMB investigators and the BNTC. * Design and perform research projects, analyze, and interpret findings, develop conclusions, write reports, prepare presentations of relevant findings and conclusions. * Summarize, edit, and prepare manuscripts, presentations, and proposals. * Train and mentor students and postdocs. * Perform additional duties as assigned. *Scholarship* Engage in scholarly activity in areas of interest. Scholarly activity is defined broadly and includes, for example, drug delivery, biomaterial synthesis, nanoparticle-biomolecular corona analysis, data analysis and informatics for nanoparticle and immunology-centric data, development of new drug delivery-based methods and experimental designs. Level of scholarly involvement will be commensurate with an academic appointment on the non-tenure track; consistent publication and presentation of work are expected. *Teaching* Participation in training and mentoring of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. *Service to the University, School, and Public* Participate in service contributions to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science programs through serving on appropriate committees. Participation in appropriate faculty activities (e.g., faculty assembly, department meetings, and BNTC committees), professional organizations, and other endeavors is expected. *Minimum Qualifications* * Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline (e.g., Pharmaceutical Sciences, Molecular Medicine, Biomedical Engineering) with relevant experience. * Experience with nanoparticle formulation, immunology techniques such as primary cell isolation and culture, flow cytometry, and ELISA, bioinformatics for biomolecular corona analysis, and/in vitro/and/in vivo/nanomedicine evaluation approaches is required. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Ability to design experimental approaches, research studies, collection procedures and data analysis. * Knowledge of nanoparticle formulation-based techniques including single/double-emulsion and microfluidics-related techniques; including purification techniques like tangential flow filtration. * Knowledge of/in vivo/models of inflammation including, LPS-induced endotoxemia, cecal ligation and puncture, EAE, allergic airway disease. * Bioinformatics associated with mass spectrometry-based techniques including nanoparticle-biomolecular corona analysis. * Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications. * Knowledge of theoretical, conceptual, and writing support on research analysis and findings. * Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills. * Ability to work as part of a team and independently perform or lead research activities. *How to Apply:*_ Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
