Position Summary:

This position will work within the DCP (Digital Commerce Platform) group to develop and implement various enterprise initiatives and technical projects related to Fisher Scientific and Thermo Fisher Scientific ecommerce web sites.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineering Manager to lead our DevOps team and manage the development, deployment, and maintenance of our continuous integration, delivery, and infrastructure automation processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing teams, implementing scalable systems, and ensuring operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow the DevOps team to deliver high-performance, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.

• Coordinate the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure alignment of development and infrastructure needs.

• Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) to support the company’s applications.

• Establish standard processes in automation, monitoring, and performance optimization.

• Ensure system availability, scalability, and security through proactive monitoring, incident management, and root cause analysis.

• Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

• Manage the planning, optimization, and scaling of resources in cloud environments.

• Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to support 24/7 uptime for services.

• Develop disaster recovery strategies and ensure robust backup and recovery mechanisms.

• Work closely with security teams to implement secure coding practices, access management, and vulnerability assessments.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Engineering.

• 3+ years of experience in managing DevOps or infrastructure teams.

• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization technologies (Kubernetes).

• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions

• Solid understanding of scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks.

• Hands-on experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).

• In-depth understanding of networking, security, and database management principles.

• Proven track record of managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure at scale.

• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

• Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to solve complex issues under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.

• Certification in AWS.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).

• Experience with incident management and post-mortem analysis.

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead multi-functional teams.

• Ability to lead multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Continuous learning attitude to keep up with evolving DevOps tools and technologies.
