Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc Pressure Vessel Principal Engineer in BARBERTON, Ohio
The Pressure Vessel Principal Engineer will utilize their knowledge of engineering principles and practices specific to pressure vessel design as they work on multiple projects of varying size. This individual utilizes a working knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Code to perform all necessary calculations to ensure safe and efficient designs. A Principal Engineer 1 will work both independently and with a group to meet the team's key objectives. This person is responsible for being a subject matter expert in multiple areas related to pressure vessel design as well as a mentor to less experienced engineers and designers in the department. This Pressure Vessel Engineer role will lead and/or support continued development of ClimateBright decarbonization technologies that utilize various pressure vessel components while working with development teams. B&W works with utilities to provide reliable, clean energy to the public, and with industrial clients to reduce the environmental impact of power and steam generation processes.
- Design and perform calculations for pressure vessels to meet the requirements of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, primarily to Section I and occasionally Section VIII and the European Standards.
- Prepare and/or Check complete project drawings and/or documents
- Utilize 3D modeling software and 2D CAD tools for drawing creation
- Solve complex problems through research and interpretation of ASME Codes, B&W Standards and occasionally the European Standards
- Assume Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsibilities to develop in depth technical knowledge.
- Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of assigned engineering work.
- Assume discipline lead on major and/or complex projects, including new development technology projects.
- Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
- Acquire general knowledge of all B&W product lines
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Keep informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for recommending changes in Standards, programs or applications.
- This support may require occasional travel to a site or to a customer meeting

``` - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program required. - 6 years of relevant experience required - Pressure Vessel knowledge and experience is required, ASME BPVC Section I and Section VIII are preferred and European Standards is desirable - Proficiency in COMPRESS software (or other Pressure Vessel Design software) - Proficiency in SolidWorks (or other 3D software) - Proficiency in Ansys Mechanical (or other FEA software) - Ability to use AutoCAD - Knowledge and experience in calculating external loading (i.e., wind, seismic and requirements for vessel supports) - Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail - Possess effective oral and written communication skills - Must have a strong desire to learn and be willing to ask questions. - . Must be able to work both independently and in a group - Must be comfortable communicating with both internal and external clients on behalf of B&W - Ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
