Engineer Intern 1 - $26.44 hourly / $2,115.20 bi-weekly
Engineer Intern 2 - $28.29 hourly / $2,263.20 bi-weekly
Engineer 3 – $33.39 hourly / $2,671.20 bi-weekly
Engineer 4 - $36.90 hourly / $2,952.00 bi-weekly
Engineer 5 - $39.48 hourly / $3,158.40 bi-weekly
NOTE REGARDING THE ADVERTISED PAY:
This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as aEngineer Intern Applicant – Engineer 5 level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
NOTE:
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To apply scholastic theory and elementary engineering skills to a variety of tasks involving standard procedures and practices in the field, office, or laboratory in order to acquire practical experience for licensure.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from a higher-level engineer.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Functional supervision may be exercised over Engineering Technicians.
LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Engineering Technicians and other related jobs by the presence of responsibility for applying engineering principles under close supervision.
Differs from Engineer Intern 1 by the absence of a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Examples of Work
This position serves as a specialized engineer within the State of Louisiana’s Safe Drinking Water Program. The position involves meeting program requirements for compliance with the requirements of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Specifically, the position manages the Disinfection By-products Rule.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a LDH technical authority in specialized areas of the Safe Drinking Water Program and work/consult with the US Environmental Protection Agency (Audits, work-plan, training, reports, correspondence, telephone calls, grant requests, etc.) concerning State compliance with federal promulgated regulations
Perform determinations of public water systems statewide regarding compliance with the monitoring and maximum contaminant level requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the State Sanitary Code
Perform consultations to District and Regional offices as well as public water supplies regarding data, sample collection, statistical report preparation, engineering data development, and engineering review
Perform/Conduct responses to public inquiries and complaints
Performs/conducts emergency response activities for natural or manmade disasters and waterborne outbreaks or illnesses
