The Board of Regents is established in the Louisiana Constitution as the state’s coordinating board for higher education, working with four management boards, 32 public degree-granting institutions, and four special-purpose institutions. The BoR sets statewide policy related to higher education; advocates for higher education systems and institutions; distributes state-provided funding in accordance with legislative actions; and administers granting programs related to the advancement of the missions of postsecondary education systems and institutions. The Board of Regents contains three programs which include the Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON).
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The HR HCM Student Intern will support the Human Capital Management Office (HCMO) by performing a variety of administrative and operational tasks. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to multiple HR functions. The intern will assist the HCMO team in managing employee data, maintaining records, supporting HR initiatives, and ensuring the efficient operation of HR processes. While this role does not offer course credit, the HCMO team will provide guidance and resources to aid in completing assignments. This position reports to the Assistant Commissioner for Human Capital Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a Louisiana accredited university or community college, and majoring in Human Resources Management or a related field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Supports HCMO by filing, organizing, and updating employee records, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and in order;
Contacting references provided by job candidates to verify their employment history and skills;
Assists in preparing onboarding materials and welcome packages for new hires;
Assists the HCMO with special projects;
Provide general administrative support;
Participate in employee engagement and recognition programs;
Shadows the Assistant Commissioner for Human Capital Management, HR Business Partners, and Employee Relations Specialists to learn and gain valuable HR knowledge, skills, and experience; and
Other duties as assigned.

This is an unclassified position.
This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA.
