The Role

The Lead Benefits Analyst provides analysis and expert consultation for benefits programs, with emphasis on disability and leave benefits. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require frequent use of creativity. Review business needs, trends and data to help drive effective decision making and advancements of benefits programs. Creates progressive and innovative solutions for a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, financing, delivery, ongoing management and communication of the full spectrum of disability and leave benefits. Work is accomplished without considerable direction.

Work Location

This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day operations of company benefit plans in areas such as communication, compliance, multiple vendor selection/management, renewal negotiations, financial modeling related to cost, and customer service associated with plans.

  • In-depth knowledge of laws that affect benefits. This includes ERISA, IRS, HIPAA and DOL regulations and reporting requirements (may also include COBRA and Section 125). Must be able to apply knowledge to both daily tasks and project management as the laws relate to Health and Welfare and Retirement benefits.

  • Performs data analysis, identifies trends, models different processes and recommends solutions. Develops and maintains analytical tools, reports and dashboards.

  • As a benefits subject matter expert (SME), provides oversight of employee benefit programs, ensures compliance and resolves escalated, complex benefit issues and questions.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to understand business needs, current workflows and practices.

  • Leads or participates in projects that drive innovation, quality, value and/or better service to participants.

  • Develops and provides benefits focused presentations and trainings for participants.

  • Assists in the development of bargaining proposals for benefits and analyzes union benefits proposals.

  • Participates in due diligence and integration activities relating to benefits for mergers and acquisitions.

  • Ensures that benefit policies, procedures, plan documents and operations are up-to-date and in compliance with all organizational policies, state and federal laws and other regulatory agencies.

  • Effectively collaborates with third party vendors to ensure that agreed upon service levels are met and any participant issues are promptly addressed.

  • Reviews benefit policies for accuracy and monitors service level agreements to ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.

  • As the global benefits subject matter expert (SME), resolves escalated benefit issues and questions.

  • Participates in due diligence and integration activities relating to benefits for mergers and acquisitions.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Consulting level Typically with 6+ years of experience. Bachelor's Degree. 4+ with a Master's Degree

  • Strong Human Resources/Benefits background

  • Analyzing Information; Reporting Skills

  • Benefits Administration

  • Vendor Management

  • Developing Standards and Processes

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Knowledge of Payroll/Benefit technology systems and data interface experience

  • Strong presentation skills, both verbal and written communications.

  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks while using strong reasoning and analytical skills.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY

$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
