Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install machinery and equipment. The role involves monitoring equipment to detect malfunctions, discussing machine operation variations with supervisors or team members to diagnose problems, and repairing machines. This position also includes the installation, repair, or replacement of electrical devices, pipe systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, automated machinery, Programmable Logic Controllers, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will service and repair material handling equipment, monitor the main electrical panel, and maintain boilers, water heaters, and water distribution systems.
Responsibilities
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install machinery and equipment
Monitor equipment to detect malfunctions
Discuss machine operation variations with supervisor or team members to diagnose problems and repair machines
Install, repair, or replace electrical devices such as transformers, relays, circuit breakers, starters, and safety and limit switches
Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
Install, program, and troubleshoot automated machinery and Programmable Logic Controllers
Install, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration and HVAC equipment
Service and repair material handling equipment
Monitor main electrical panel and troubleshoot as necessary
Repair and maintain boilers, water heaters, water conditioning equipment, and all water distribution systems
Follow established preventative maintenance guidelines
Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance for machines
Perform all necessary maintenance and update logs as necessary
Report major problems to supervisor
Maintain building through painting, repairing minor structural problems, and other repairs as necessary
Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment
Perform general maintenance repairs of office and building
Ensure proper adherence to all safety and government guidelines
Identify safety issues with machines; document issues; develop action plan to resolve concerns; follow-up to ensure problems are resolved
Monitor machines to ensure all levels are within EPA, OSHA, and other government guidelines; develop action plan to resolve issues if not; follow-up to ensure problems are resolved
Assist in the control and scheduling of projects
Monitor inventory and order parts as necessary
Monitor energy usage and provide recommendations on better usage

Ability to evaluate and repair all types of mechanical and electrical equipment
Ability to perform under extreme stress during equipment failure
High School Diploma, Technical School Training (2 years), or 3 to 4 years related experience, or licensed journeyman of a skilled trade
Basic computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams
Effective communication skills in oral and written form
Problem-solving skills and ability to draw conclusions
Interpret technical instructions and diagrams
EPA Refrigeration Certification (Type II or higher) – Federal requirement for team leaders or maintenance techs servicing or handling refrigeration equipment

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts. You may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosion, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be high. A strong safety awareness is necessary to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BATON ROUGE, Louisiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr.
