Eaton Corporation Counsel - Regulatory & Sustainability in Beachwood, Ohio

Eaton’s Legal Department is hiring a Counsel, Regulatory and Sustainability in Beachwood, Ohio.

What you’ll do:

The Counsel, Regulatory & Sustainability will manage environmental, health, and safety (EHS) aspects, along with sustainability/ESG, product compliance, and real estate transactions, is quite a broad and impactful role.

Your tasks include:

  • Analyzing and providing counsel on regulatory matters (both domestic and international) to mitigate corporate exposure.

  • Identifying legal risks and ensuring processes are in place to mitigate those risks.

  • Counseling facility managers and senior management on legal matters.

  • Providing legal training and supporting acquisitions and divestitures.

  • Assisting in litigation matters and representing the business in enforcement or regulatory matters before governmental agencies.

  • Exercising professional judgment to protect the business's interests and further EHS and sustainability strategic initiatives, including Eaton’s 2030 Sustainability Goals.

In this role, the successful hired counsel will focus on key areas such as EHS, Real Estate transactions, and Environmental Remediation.

Responsibilities to include (but not limited to):

  • Legal and Strategic Counsel : Provide guidance to management and EHS personnel at all levels to ensure compliance with EHS and product laws and regulations.

  • Performance Enhancement: Drive EHS, product stewardship, and sustainability efforts to support company growth in the power management space.

  • Acquisition/Divestiture Support : Assist with legal aspects of acquisitions and divestitures, including due diligence and contract negotiation.

  • Legal Advice : Provide counsel on real estate transactions, financing, and disputes.

  • Due Diligence : Assist with due diligence investigations and reviews, including title, zoning, land use, and environmental considerations.

  • Compliance : Ensure practices, policies, and activities meet legal and management requirements.

  • Training : Develop and deliver effective training to personnel on EHS, product, ESG, and real property matters.

  • Negotiations : Participate in and manage negotiations with government agencies and others on EHS matters to communicate Eaton’s position, maximize benefits, and reduce risk.

Qualifications:

Education and Critical Soft Skills :

The selected candidate must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution with the necessary licensing to practice law. He/she should have a minimum of 7 years (post JD) of experience working in EHS, product compliance & sustainability, and dispute management. Real estate transaction experience strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment. They will be an effective communicator, negotiator and problem solver who is proactive, thinks and acts strategically, drives for world-class results, embraces accountability, and demonstrates managerial courage, strong interpersonal skills and professional presence.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $158249.97 - $232099.96 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
