Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced System Administrator to join our team in a hybrid role that combines traditional system administration with cybersecurity assessment and authorization (A&A) support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system administration and cybersecurity assessment processes. The System Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of virtual RHEL servers while supporting A&A activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage virtual machines across multiple domains (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and CV2).

  • Manage and maintain systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Provide support for user accounts and access management.

  • Perform regular system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.

  • Conduct system/software weakness and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks.

  • Perform risk analysis to evaluate potential threats and implement necessary countermeasures.

  • Support software development for data analytics, including developing custom code applications and integrations to enhance cybersecurity capabilities (e.g., supporting Katy’s work with custom applications).

  • Assist team members in managing and maintaining cybersecurity assessment and authorization (A&A) documentation and processes in compliance with RMF standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to support and enhance system functionalities.

  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for critical systems.

  • Ensure system security through access controls, firewalls, and security configurations.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, RMF A&A documentation, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and developments to suggest improvements to system performance and security.

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site

  • Travel Requirements: 10% minimal travel.

  • Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in related field. In lieu of degree 10 years of experience with RHEL operating system administration.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

  • Clearance: Top Secret with the ability to obtain SCI.

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.

  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in managing Blade Risk Manager or similar risk management software.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services.

  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements related to risk management.
