Amazon Category Manager, Global Procurement Organization (GPO) in Bellevue, Washington
Description
Global MHE procurement components team secures the supplier technology, solutions, and capacity required to deliver the highly automated FC technology road-map. Our team also directs the global MHE components acquisition and supplier development for the customer fulfillment (GCF), Air (AIR), specialty fulfillment (GSF), and transportation (ATS) operations. These solutions require continuous engineering development, emerging and disruptive technology innovations and long-term supplier partnerships. We are filling a key role on our Worldwide components sourcing team.
Amazon is seeking an industry proven and detail oriented indirect sourcing Category manager (CM) to qualify, develop and manage our key material handling supplier base. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, contract manufacturing, and system supplier and/or technology sourcing. Our CM must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. Key job responsibilities
• Partner with Worldwide and Regional Procurement teams to qualify, manage and source key MHE components.
• Develop and manage strong strategic relationships with our key suppliers and business partners to reduce cost, compress project lifecycles, advance solution quality and improve capital efficiencies.
• Implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply, ensuring cost efficient supply of critical items.
• Facilitate suppliers’ understanding of Amazon global policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, and service and quality expectations
• Drive suppliers’ continuous improvement and development program in support of quality, delivery and cost performance metrics.
• Support common global supplier selection processes, global supplier development processes, and continued managed expansion of the global supplier base.
• Manage common global supplier metrics and data reporting to support the achievement of continuous cost improvement targets.
• Support Lean / Cost Out programs to reduce CapEx spend and optimize capital spend efficiency.
• Lead special projects on a worldwide basis to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, improve performance of strategic suppliers, and improve project implementation results.

About the team
Our team strives to be a single point of contact for procurement support to our stakeholders. We are finding ways to move faster and more efficiently than ever before to deliver upgrades to capacity and associate experience across Amazon's Operations network.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
Travel up to 30% of the time
4+ years of experience in a sourcing or supply chain management or equivalent role.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Experience in defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics
Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
Proven experience in supplier development / vendor management / strategic sourcing especially for custom-engineered solutions (vs. commodity parts, services, etc.). Preferred design, project management, sourcing and/or contract manufacturing of multiple complex integrated automation (Material Handling Equipment / Emerging Technologies) experience; general guideline is $50M automation budgets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
