MCFR Senior Structural Engineer TerraPower, LLC. Is seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Engineer. . In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert for TerraPower's MCFR advanced nuclear reactor development program. The role will begin on the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE) with focus on supporting the structural design, specification, and evaluation of high temperature equipment supports and radiation shielding components and their attachment to the facility. As the team transitions towards the commercial reactor design, this individual would be instrumental in selection of structural systems and configurations, establishing design criteria and requirements, performing preliminary calculations and estimates for the conceptual design phase of the plant. This person would be relied upon heavily to not only leverage past nuclear and/or heavy industrial design, but to attack the problems in a forward thinking and efficient manner. Candidates must be licensed engineers in Washington state or have the ability to become licensed in short order. Responsibilities: * SME for structural design and seismic equipment qualification within MCFR * Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nuclear engineers, mechanical engineers, construction professionals, and regulatory authorities, to integrate structural designs seamlessly into the MCFR program. * Originate structural design calculations and reports for equipment supports, racks, and frames, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations, including seismic requirements in accordance with ASCE 4, ASCE 7, ASCE 43, and IBC. * Perform structure, weld, and anchorage design per AISC 360, AISC 370, AISC NN690, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, ACI 318, and ACI 349 * Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables. Key Qualifications and Skills * PE or SE license in the state of Washington; highly qualified engineers who are eligible for licensure in Washington state within 3 months will be considered. * B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; M.S. degree preferred.
