Whatcom Community College invites applications for a 9 Month, Recurring, 75% Time Program Coordinator (Class Code 107N) position.

The Program Coordinator provides administrative and program support for Access & Disability Services (ADS) and Counseling Services.This position works closely with the ADS staff and the personal counselors to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for students accessing services. This position reports to the Director of Access & Disability Services. 

The ADS & Counseling Program Coordinator will:

  • Provide coordination and support for the ADS and Counseling departments and programmatic elements.
  • Develop effective collaboration with key campus and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate equity, diversity and inclusion in all support and practices.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA, HIPAA, ADA and 504 policies.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for students seeking program information and appointment scheduling.  
  • Interact with students, staff and community members in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner. 
  • Demonstrate equity, diversity, and inclusion in all programs, activities and practices. 
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with individuals and groups in-person, on the phone and in written correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Collaborate on behalf of Access & Disability Services and Counseling Services with students, faculty, administrators, staff, community agencies, and community members.
  • Prepare, develop and manage written communication and marketing materials with guidance and collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Department and other College departments when appropriate. 
  • Provide data entry and management. 
  • Monitor, order and maintain office supplies.
  • Provide clerical support and assistance. 
  • Design and produce accessible word processing documents and publications for office use, mailings and dispersal to campus community.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies or ability to learn. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution.
  • Computer proficiency with a high level of comfort with technology and the ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and experience working in a higher education institution in counseling or disability support services or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering student programs in a community college setting.
  • Experience with assistive technologies including creating accessible documents.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population including but not limited to first generation college students, students with disabilities and neurodiversity, students of color, gender non-conforming students.
  • Ability to work as a team player and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm and defuse situations with individuals who appear agitated. 
Salary

Salary:

  • This is a  9 Month, Recurring, 75% Time Classified position. Range 40, Step C $2,732.25 per month which is 75% of $3,643.00 with periodic increments to $3.387.75 which is 75% of $4,517.00 per month.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 9:30am-4:30pm.
