Summary:
The FSQA Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily activities of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) department. This includes managing food safety programs, ensuring adherence to product specifications, and maintaining product quality standards within the assigned facility. Additionally, the FSQA Manager will oversee special projects, departmental budgets, employee turnover, and workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily oversight of production practices, including raw material receiving requirements, preoperational and operational sanitation, finished product quality, and food safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with Tyson FSQA policies and procedures, as well as government regulations, through monitoring, verification, and documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP and SSOP-based inspection programs.
- Ensure finished products meet customer product and labeling specifications.
- Report product issues and audit findings to plant and corporate FSQA management, corporate sales, and operations teams.
- Interact with customers and their representatives for product demonstrations, plant tours, and audits, as well as address quality-related customer complaints.
- Conduct visits to customer facilities, oversee initial product runs, and respond to quality issues.
- Monitor microbiological results, conduct bacterial swabs, and generate environmental graphs for shelf-life analysis.
- Perform research and development activities while promoting sanitation training and education for employees.
- Implement and maintain food safety and quality programs.
- Recruit, train, and manage FSQA Supervisors and Technicians.
Requirements:
Education: A bachelor\'s degree in a relevant professional or technical field is preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years of related experience is necessary.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in standard computer applications, including spreadsheet creation and template development, for use by plant management and corporate FSQA teams.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization, from line team members to corporate management.
Special Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities are required. The ability to work independently while collaborating across various organizational departments is essential. Must serve as the plant liaison to USDA.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage staffing, labor, and attendance for the FSQA department.
