Job Title: Weekend QC Chemist

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Weekend QC Chemist with strong theoretical knowledge of chemistry. This role requires flexibility, commitment in work schedule and coverage, and computer experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for a current Sciences student to gain working experience in the lab performing quality and analytical lab testing.

Responsibilities

• Test in-process and finished samples.

• Document results manually and in an electronic system.

• Use ASTM methods and various instrumentation including titrations, viscosity, flash point, penetration, moisture analysis, IR, and GC.

• Occasionally test pH levels.

• Follow a work order each shift to accomplish necessary tasks.

Essential Skills

• Strong theoretical knowledge of chemistry.

• Proficiency in computer use.

• Experience with titrations, viscosity, and pH testing.

• Knowledge of lab safety and procedure.

• Experience with analytical chemistry and quality control.

• Familiarity with gas chromatography and FTIR.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, or Sr. college student studying Chemistry preferred.

• Experience with solvent and grease testing is a plus.

Work Environment

The lab and facility are older and slightly messy due to working with oil products. The lab is equipped with various instruments, and the core products are distributed in 55-gallon drums and bulk liquid containers. The least favorable part of the job involves making grease for testing, which can be tedious and involves a lot of glassware cleaning. The lab will have only one person at a time on the weekend shift. This role requires working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, with the potential need to cover Sundays. Training will take 4-6 weeks, and the ideal candidate will stay through the completion of their degree.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
