POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the organization and implementation of recreation programming.
  • Participate in community outings and events related to the interests of the facility, community and the services and needs of the residents and their families.
  • Involve residents and families in participating in facility recreation programs.\ Refer resident/families to appropriate social service or nursing personnel as indicated.
  • Assist in completing daily tasks required by the Recreation Department including but not limited to delivering newspapers and mail, writing recreation calendar on white boards, creating monthly calendars, and making sure recreation space is clean and organized.
  • Record attendance in recreation programs daily.
  • Maintain a collaborative working relationship with the Director of Recreation Therapy as well as other inter-departmental personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining ongoing quality improvement projects for the recreation therapy department.
  • Promote and role-model a customer-service approach with internal and external customers.
  • Have a valid drivers license and drive company vehicle(s) with residents in them and follow the vehicle policy.
  • Attend and participate in monthly recreation department meetings.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Director of Recreation Therapy.

SAFETY AND SANITATION/ENVIROMENTAL

  • Follow established standard and safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Report to the Director of Plant Operations or Supervisor any hazardous condition or equipment immediately.
  • Participate in all annual mandatory in-services.
  • Participate in environmental, recycling and/or waste initiatives implemented in the facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

  • Must be able to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must be willing to work independently and follow recreation calendar.
