Budget Title: Lead Programmer/Analyst (SL-3)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Binghamton University is looking for a Lead Programmer/Analyst to join our Enterprise Applications team. The Enterprise Applications group is responsible for development and support of many of the University's systems. The Applications team identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable, and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian, SAS, D2L, Technolutions, and many others.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects including implementation and support of third-party vendor software and creation of in-house applications and processes. Responsibilities will include working with the Banner Student Information System (SIS), Technolutions Slate Admission CRM, and Binghamton University Identity and Access Management systems. Work may be independent or as part of a larger team.

Development initiatives are focused on web-based applications, web service requests, and integration with existing platforms and applications. Batch processing of data may utilize shell scripting or other interpreted languages. Experience with applications used in Higher Education and Oracle software is a plus.

The Lead Programmer/Analyst reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and will work closely with the Administrative and Academic departments, the campus community, and other key groups/staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS).

This position would be eligible for a partial/limited hybrid work location under the NYS, Binghamton University, and ITS approved remote work location agreements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience with relational database systems and SQL

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity in a changing business environment

  • Proven technical skills and problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with colleagues and customers

Position Preferences:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field

  • Experience in working in a large complex organization

  • Relevant experience integrating business systems and applications is a plus

  • Experience working in a higher education or research environment

  • Experience with Technolutions Slate Admissions CRM

  • Experience with Facilities Management software

  • Experience with ID Card systems

  • Experience working with Banner Student systems

  • Experience with Linux and Shell scripting

  • Experience with web stack technologies such as HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Experience integrating business systems and applications in a higher education environment

  • Ability to understand languages, tools, and frameworks such as Java, PHP, PL/SQL, Python, XML, and GitHub/GitLab
