Department Overview:

Binghamton University's College of Community of Public Affairs (CCPA) was established in 2007 and is located in the heart of the city of Binghamton. CCPA is composed of five departments: Human Development, Public Administration, Social Work, Student Affairs Administration, and Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership, as well as an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Community Research and Action, all of which prepare students for community-building professions.

Job Description:

Binghamton University's Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership (TLEL) department, housed within the College of Community of Public Affairs (CCPA), seeks a Lecturer in Literacy Education to work with students who are pursuing degrees in education. The Lecturer in Literacy Education will be responsible for the following:

• Teaching six graduate-level courses per academic year, both in person and online, in Literacy Education

• Supervision of students in clinical experiences including fieldwork, internship, and student teaching placements

• Liaising with mentor teachers, Director of Field Education, and faculty advisors;

• Attending department meetings and program-related meetings;

Job Requirements:

Required:

• Master's degree (or higher) in Literacy Education (or related field)

• Five years of teaching experience in Pre-K-12 schools

• Experience in leadership, mentoring, coaching, or supervising K-12 teachers

Preferred:

• Experience teaching literacy or ESOL in Pre-K-12 schools

• Experience teaching in-person or online courses at the college level

• Knowledge and experience with current research and best practices in literacy education
